Laura Allen

Hi everybody, finally got around to puttin my 2 cents in on here.. I'm Laura, guess I am the "groupie" of the bunch!! Have loved me some music men! I never really dated guys in our school (except one) cuz they talked crap!! I was in chorus and was a cheerleader for awhile. Surfing and getting a "buzz" took over so on I went. Use to love skip day! Remember when it snowed on 76? lol! I found myself pretty much hanging with a few girls at school but had best friends in other schools. Shirlyn and I new each other from our church..boy the tales we could tell you!! hitch hiking, palm beach, beer!!! I was born and raised in Lake Worth and I remained there till 2004 when I moved to New Mexico,,yep I did! No hurricanes!. I am a survivor of sorts. I beat cancer, depression, made it through years of domestic violence, 2 failed marriages, had my heart torn to shreads by my best friend and have had a fairly rocky 14 year relationship with,,,yep,,a musician! I do however (on a positive note) have 3 unbelievable kids and 1 grandson who holds my heart in his hands! We have had our share of hits but I think things are well on their way to becoming normal(whatever that is!). I am esctatic that I have found a group of incredible women that I am truly proud to call my friends. When we're together it's like we've been bff's forever. They are all unique, beautiful, successful and engaging in their own ways. I love them dearly. We all have such different lives but cant wait to start sharing moments and feelings of our lives with you... now let's get this party started!

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Oh man, what a trip. It was my sophomore year and I remember that each student had to give $40.00 for their portion of the trip. THEN we had to raise money to cover the rest. We were all so excited, airplane ride, marching in the biggest parade of the year......ahh what could be better.

I remember someone coming from the parade board and watching our routine, as a majorette we wore our wool uniforms for the exhibition. Man were we hot in that Florida sun. Then our director Pat, when asked if we had any other uniforms said 'well yes we have sequin uniforms also'. Yep you guessed it that is what they wanted to see.

DANG were we cold. The staff actually had to put us in the lobby of the Macy's Department store prior to our step off to keep us warm. My mother told me when I returned that during the broadcast the commentator said "no folks, don't adjust your color dials those girls are actually purple they are so cold". We laughed for a couple years about that one. Even though we froze our butts off I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

A lot of things happened that trip, one not so funny at that time was that a bird flying over Mrs. Townsend's head decided to .... you know... she had to find a salon real quick :)

Trojan Head

Haha, this title could definitely bring out the crazies. I remember Lake Worth High when it was simple to get from the Senior Steps to the East Building. I remember when they put in I-95 behind the school and created a parking lot for the students, stopping us from parking in front of the band room. :(

As a member of the......what was it again ? oh yeah student council haha I fondly remember putting up scaffolding and painting the Trojan Head maroon. I think I got more paint on the wall underneath the head though.

The only thing I remember about that gym was it was HOT, smelly and I attempted the gymnastics portion of PE there. That was hysterical, my first run at the horse ended with me launching off the spring board and promptly screaming thru the air then grabbing the horse with both arms and legs, swinging to the right ending up hanging upside down while holding on for dear life. Everyone in the class was laughing to my distress.

Just Joined the Group

Hi All! I have never done a blog before so bear with me! I am one of the crazy women who managed to survive high school in Lake Worth (and enjoy it), raised a family in Lantana and both of my kids went to Lake Worth High. My ex husband, who I happened to marry right out of high school, worked for the City of Lake Worth utilities. Heck, I even did a stint of working at the City as the payroll administrator and then over to utilities to try my hand at administration. Which sucked by the way!

I live now with my wonderful husband Mark in a tiny, tiny town in Middle Tennessee. We moved here in 2004 and love it. Yes I do miss being "back home" but most of all I miss my kids and 5 grandkids. They are all in Lake Worth and Boynton Beach.

I liked living in Lantana because you just knew where everything was in that area. I mean you knew where to go to get your car fixed, your nails done, your hair cut just the way you liked it. So some of you in the group, fill me in on the changes you have seen in LW. When I was there in February, I couldn't believe they had built a wall in front of the Trojan Head on the back of the PE Bldg!

As far as crazy, I have mellowed considerably but do I have stories to tell of things that went on that I thought I would either be dead or in jail!

Hey Everyone!
I'm Shirlyn, the crazy Redhead of the group-although, through the years the hair seems to have gotten blonder thanks to my hairdresser! I consider myself the perfect balance of Souther lady and Florida Redneck! Ok, maybe a little more Redneck than Lady at times! I was born, raised and will probably, "Kick the Bucket" in Lake Worth! Yes, I did live in Orlando and Jacksonville for a bit, but came home-just as everyone eventually does, even if just to visit-to Lake Worth.None of us can explain why...closeness of community, small town feel, childhood memories, or just the longing to revisit our former self...Lake Worth is home! Twenty years ago, if you would have told me I would be blogging with these very special Ladies, first I would ask you "What the hell is blogging". After you told me I would have laughed myself silly and told you that you were insane! But, with that modern day miracle they call the computer, I have met back up with former classmates & friends and formed bonds that are iron clad. I can't imagine these amazing women NOT being in my life ever again! Through this blog you will defiantly laugh with us, probably cry with us and sometimes wonder why some of us are still alive!! But, most of all, we want to invite you into our lives and enjoy the ride...past and present! Oh, and always remember...GO TROJANS!

WELCOME

HEY !
Well here we go. Our first official post. I'm Beth and I am inviting you to read the adventures of the Crazy-Real HouseWomen of Lake Worth. We are a bunch of crazy-strong women who have come a long way in our 50 years of life.

Our main attachment is our formative high school years, and I say that with all due respect. :) We attended Lake Worth High School in of course Lake Worth, Florida. We lived and played hard in this town, had fun times and scary times but always REAL times.

We will be sharing our lives with all of you and hope that you enjoy laughing with us. We apologize immediately if we offend anyone here, this is not our intention. We are not gossip mongers, we do not talk behind each others backs, we do however "have" each others backs always. It's a strong bond that has brought us all back together after so many years, and one that I am happy for.

The other women will be posting I'm sure within hours of this our official first post, so sit back, read and we hope laugh your butts off.
